According to Wikipedia (with no source cited), there was a representation of the head of Medusa in the floor of some ruined buildings in the area of Reggio Calabria that Gianni Versace played in as a child, along with his sister Donatella and brother Santo. He chose to use it as the logo of his business because "she made people fall in love with her and they had no way back. He hoped his company would have the same effect on people and on those who wore his clothes and shoes."
